So for those of you who didn't get a chance to vote on whether I keep my menu postings, TOO BAD! That survey was up since last week. If you haven't visited my glorious blog since then, you don't deserve to voice your opinion. At any rate, I received a lot of positive votes in lieu of my menus so I will continue to post them.
I get more and more behind on this meal planning thing every week! This week is extreme slacker week. We were out of town on Sunday and will be gone again this Saturday and Sunday. I'm boycotting the grocery store this week because I hate going and I spend too much on food. So, the meals I've planned are bare-bones, scrape the bottom of the barrel, cheap as dirt kind of things. But hopefully they won't make us throw up.
Sunday: Seth ate the last gyro from last week and I finished up the extra Greek pitas by dipping them in leftover yogurt sauce. We were tired from camping ok?
Monday: Southwest Vegetarian Bake - This was a new recipe which sounds not so good, but surprisingly was. I even reviewed it already if you follow the link. I changed it up a bit, which I also noted in my review.
Tuesday: Curried Lentils and Rice - This is also new. I don't think I've ever really made curry anything so I thought I'd try this. Plus, it sounds kind of healthy. I need to make sure all my Muscle Motion efforts are enhanced by my diet. UPDATE: See comments.
Wednesday: Tuna Casserole an old family favorite.
Thursday: Jo Mama's World Famous Spaghetti There's a container of this in my freezer already so all's I gotta do is throw it in the microwave!
Weekend: Heidi and Paul are going to show us the wonderful world of food in Boise! Wahoo!

KAY!
I'm so glad you're continuing!!! Especially 'cuz this might be my fave. week yet!
Paul tries to cook vegetarian once a week... The SW veggie bake sounds RIGHT up his alley since he loves Mexican fare... Kinda funny, he makes tacos from time to time which he copied from MY doing my family's buffet-approach... The curry lentil thing looks DIVINE. YUM YUM! We have lentils stuff a lot and love it, and curry stuff we both ADORE (my daddy makes great curry... I learned from him and taught Paul but Paul has far surpassed me)... but we've never ever put FRUIT in either a lentil or a curry thing! SOUNDS DARING and HEAVENLY.
Also I haven't gotten caught back up on sleep since my big Collette weekend and was feeling all weepy today... Being mentioned by NAME on Famous Karen's Famous Blog really gave me a boost!
I hope you'll have more surveys on your blog... That was really fun! Although I don't know what it could be about. Maybe a competition to name Kay's best quality... Sweetness, cuteness, kindness, gorgeousness, cleverness, talentedness, and overall super-insightful brilliance would have to be among the choices... And anyone who didn't choose the "all-of-the-above" option would get ZAPPED! And have to do ten minutes of Muscle Motion video!!
:D H
p.s. I'm sending the recipes to Paul. They're KEEPERS!
Wow! No wonder I like you Heidi!:D But I have to say that doing 10 minutes of Muscle Motion is more of a reward than a punishment! Ha!
Anyway, for those of you out there that are going to try some of the crazy stuff from this week, I have to warn you about the Curry Rice and Lentils. I wasn't too fond of it. It was edible and not exactly gross or anything but I just wasn't all that thrilled with it. And it took a lot longer to cook the rice than it said (about 20 minutes more) so the apples got mushy from being in there too long. So, at this point I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. There's a possibility it'll be better the second day, but somehow I doubt it. Anyway, there are a few other rice and lentil recipes I've made before that are WAY better, so I'd make those instead. Just search by ingredient in my Main Cookbook on Recipezaar.
Oh, darn! I mean, about the Curry Lentils. I had high hopes. I will look around... maybe we can put fruit (so WEIRD) in some other recipe. Or Paul can make up his own curry lentils... He likes inventing things.
I do, too, but sometimes when I invent food dishes they're only good enough for the squirrels. Years & years ago, after meeting Paul and knowing that sometimes he put oil and PARMESAN CHEESE on plain pasta... I tried the same. Only I added salt and pepper and thyme and oregano and basil... Oh, Kay, it was HORRIBLE! It made me give up being quite so creative.
I like that you test the recipes first! Then there's no risk and no feeling stupid!
Have a fab day, you!
